Return to Golf

Getting you back in the swing of things post-injury

People who play golf truly love and enjoy the sport. When an injury occurs, the fear of not being able to return to the links is palpable. At NEBH, our experts in sports medicine understand that fear and have been returning golfers back to play for decades. Our Return to Golf Program is designed to not only get golfers back to the game following an injury, but return them in optimal shape so they can continue to improve their game and meet their personal goals.

Program Design

This program is designed to improve the mobility, stability, strength, and endurance which are often lost after an injury. Whether it is after a total joint replacement, or years of back pain, this program will bridge the gap between physical therapy, which tends to focus on just the injured area, and getting your entire body ready to get back to playing golf. Training sessions are offered in a group setting, as many people find peer encouragement an important part of the healing process.

Program Goals

Mobility

  • To safely maintain and/or increase your general flexibility through various stretching exercises and movement patterns.
  • To identify and correct any gross movement restrictions found in your golf swing.

Stability

  • To establish stability in critical areas of the body so you can maintain proper posture and balance from the beginning to end of your swing.
  • To create functional stability in both your upper body and lower body and to optimize control and power in your swing.

Strength and Endurance

  • To increase your basic strength to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.
  • To increase your endurance to ensure that your performance remains at a high level from the beginning to the end of the round.

Class Format

Group size is limited to four people per instructor so personal needs can be addressed. Sessions are once a week for six weeks. One-on-one sessions are available if preferred.

Golf Peak Performance

Improve Your Game with Better Body Mechanics

Most golfers think that working with their local pro shop to improve their swing is the best way to up their game. While it is an important component to lowering your handicap, improving your body mechanics will take you further towards meeting your goals.

The Golf Peak Performance program at NEBH was designed by experts in sports medicine and musculoskeletal care to bring evidence-based golf fitness techniques to both the professional and recreational player. Golf is a sport that requires muscle power, endurance, and flexibility. By conditioning your body to get into optimal shape for the season, you can help avoid injury and ensure that you perform at your best.

In this program, we will identify your strengths, note your limitations, and discover where you have room for improvement. Progress is measured throughout your training so you can see how your workout is paying off.
