For patients suffering from spine issues – such as scoliosis, spinal deformities, spine fractures and tumors — there is an ever expanding number of treatment options available along with observation and follow-up. Many of our patients have had previous surgery either as adolescents or adults and, while initially successful, have gone on to develop problems of spinal/foraminal stenosis or problems with standing posture.
Flatback (walking or standing pitched forward) is a common problem in patients who have had previous surgery. Approximately two-thirds of our patients have had previous surgery and require spinal reconstruction to regain normal standing posture (balance). Whether patients have scoliosis untreated as adolescents, have developed adult onset scoliosis or have developed problems following previous surgery, we are here to help.
Dr. Frank Rand has devoted his career to patients with spinal deformity, and is joined by Dr. Pablo Diaz-Collado, who completed one of the top fellowship programs in the country devoted to spinal deformity. We have made it our focus to take care of patients with spinal deformity including surgical and non-surgical care, in coordination with the multiple talented NEBH physicians and therapists in the departments of Neurology, Physiatry, Radiology and Anesthesia.
