Scott G. Tromanhauser, MD, MBA, Joins NEBH as Medical Director of Orthopedic Spine Programs

Scott G. Tromanhauser, MD, MBA, a specialist in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of adult degenerative spinal disorders, has joined New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) as the Medical Director of Orthopedic Spine Programs. In this role, Dr. Tromanhauser is responsible for the integration of orthopedic spine programs co-developed between the hospital and medical staff. He will see patients and perform surgery exclusively at New England Baptist Hospital and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Tromanhauser, who came to NEBH in 1992 for the prestigious spine fellowship, is actively involved in spinal treatment research and has participated in multiple FDA-sanctioned trials of new spinal devices. He has interests in developing predictive modeling using Neural Networks for the formation of clinical decision support tools. He also co-founded a medical device company and was granted a number of patents for his implant and surgical tool designs.

Tromanhauser was a member of the United States Army Reserve Medical Corp for 12 years serving as a Staff Orthopedic Surgeon, where most of his time was spent at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C.

Dr. Tromanhauser earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Northeastern University.

Tromanhauser is a member of several professional societies, including the North American Spine Society, the Lumbar Spine Research Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He also serves as Medical Director of the Best Doctors® Occupational Health Institute, working to improve the quality of care for patients suffering from work-related injury.
