Boston, Mass. – New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) today announced it has been named a winner twice over of the 2021 Pinnacle of Excellence Award by Press Ganey, the national leader in healthcare consumer and workforce engagement.
Press Ganey recognizes NEBH as a top-performing healthcare organization in two categories of patient experience: for the hospital’s inpatient performance as well as for its Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) results – showcasing exemplary levels of performance in both areas for a minimum of three consecutive years. According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, HCAHPS (pronounced “H-caps”), also known as the CAHPS Hospital Survey, is a survey instrument and data collection methodology for measuring patients’ perceptions of their hospital experience.
New England Baptist Hospital was also recognized with a 2021 Guardian of Excellence Award by Press Ganey, for being a top-performing healthcare organization achieving the 95th percentile or above for performance in patient experience in inpatient and HCAHPS. This is the fourteenth year in a row the hospital has received the Guardian of Excellence award for inpatient experience. In order to achieve the Pinnacle of Excellence award, and organization must achieve the Guardian of Excellence Award for three consecutive years.
“Press Ganey is honored to recognize New England Baptist Hospital as one of the nation’s leaders in patient experience,” said Patrick T. Ryan, chairman and chief executive officer, Press Ganey. “Despite an era of incredible challenges, New England Baptist Hospital has demonstrated resilience, constantly pushing boundaries as healthcare consumerism continues to gain momentum, driving advancements in improved outcomes for all.”
NEBH is one of four organizations with 100-199 beds recognized across the country in the category for in-patient experience.
David Passafaro, president of New England Baptist Hospital, further explained that Press Ganey’s Pinnacle of Excellence Award demonstrates that Boston and the communities surrounding Boston can receive top-rated care close to home. “We are honored to receive this double award. Our staff and clinicians are dedicated and passionate about making our patients feel cared for and understood. Our goal is exemplary care for our patients. This award is recognition that we are achieving that goal.”
The Press Ganey Pinnacle of Excellence Award is a preeminent, competitive achievement for leading healthcare organizations. Presented annually, the award applauds hospitals and health systems that consistently sustained performance year-over-year.
