Boston Celtics Guard Jonas Jerebko Visited Local Youth as Part of the 2017 Future Celtics Program Presented by NEBH

Boston Celtics guard Jonas Jerebko was at Madison Park High School to visit more than 300 students that are in participating YMCA’s and community centers as part of the first 2017 Future Celtics program presented by New England Baptist Hospital. Jerebko coached kids in grades three to five through drill stations to assist in further developing their fundamental basketball skills.  Additionally, Jerebko participated in a question and answer session with the students to discuss a variety of topics including maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the importance of hard work. The children also learned about the 2017 Future Celtics program and how their improvement can earn them game tickets and exclusive Celtics experiences.

“It was great coaching the kids on basketball skills”, Boston Celtics guard Jonas Jerebko said. “The kids were excited about getting Celtics prizes! It was rewarding knowing the kids will be working hard to improve their health even after we leave”.

“We are proud to support the Sr. Celtics program,” said Trish Hannon, president and CEO of New England Baptist Hospital. “Increasing access to exercise and keeping all of us moving are keys to enhancing quality of life. We are committed to working together with the Boston Celtics to improve the overall health of our community over the long-term.”

All students in attendance were treated to a “Lucky” dunk show to conclude the event and received a 2017 Future Celtics t-shirt.

The 2017 Future Celtics Clinic presented by New England Baptist Hospital is a season long program that will help youth of the Greater Boston area develop fundamental basketball skills that they can use in their local leagues.

About the Future Celtics Program

The Future Celtics program presented by New England Baptist Hospital challenges over 750 3rd-5th graders to develop their basketball game through skills, drills and leadership training.  Kids from local YMCA’s and Boston Centers for Youth and Families community centers participate in “clinic events” where they are coached through workouts by members of the Celtics VIP’s. Participants are then tasked with improving in those Celtics-approved drills for a chance to win Celtics prizes.
