James V. Bono, MD, orthopedic surgeon and vice chair for orthopedics for medical education at New England Baptist Hospital, a Boston-based premier regional provider for orthopedic surgery and the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and disorders, has been honored at the 22nd Annual Arthritis Foundation Physician Achievement Award Dinner.
The Physician Achievement Award Dinner honors a rheumatologist and an orthopedic surgeon for excellence in arthritis care and leadership in the fight against arthritis. Each honoree has led an outstanding career dedicating his/her life to helping thousands of families impacted by arthritis.
Dr. Bono is an Orthopedic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience specializing in joint replacement and reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). He has had a distinguished career to date, holding seven joint replacement patents, serving as a design consultant for Total Knee Replacement systems, and developing hip replacement software. Having been invited to lecture in 23 countries, Dr. Bono is a five-time recipient of the Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence, and is a member of the Knee Society. He has published three books, 13 book chapters, 81 peer reviewed journal articles, and was included in Boston Magazine’s annual list of “Top Doctors” from 2010-2015. He holds an academic appointment as Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Tufts University. He earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College.
