Sponsored by Citizens Bank, Will Honor Those Who Further the Baptist’s Work in Orthopedics
New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) will hold its 2014 Gala, THE POWER OF MOTION, on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 6:00 pm at the InterContinental Hotel in Boston. The event is presented by underwriting sponsor Citizens Bank, and will celebrate the physicians, caregivers, and partners who make it possible for NEBH to carry out its mission to promote wellness, restore function, lessen disability, alleviate pain, and advance knowledge in musculoskeletal disease and related disorders.
With a special focus on arthritis, a diagnosis faced by more than 50 million Americans—one of every five adults—according to the Arthritis Foundation, the Gala will highlight the Baptist’s work to maintain and improve motion for patients with the disease. Richard D. Scott, MD will be honored as the 2014 Legendary Leader for the superb patient care and clinical expertise he provides to his patients at NEBH. Deborah Norville, award-winning broadcast journalist, author, and television personality, will serve as emcee and keynote speaker for the evening. Ms. Norville has family experience with rheumatoid arthritis and speaks publicly on the subject.
Jerry Sargent, President of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens, Massachusetts, and a New England Baptist Board member, is chair of the event.
“We are proud to support New England Baptist Hospital because we know that every bit of help we give will truly make a difference in the lives of the patients, families, and communities they serve,” said Mr. Sargent. “New England Baptist Hospital’s emphasis on respect, ownership, superior service, and excellence makes an enormous difference in the well-being of our community and aligns with our credo: Customers, Colleagues, Community.”
Funds raised through the Gala will allow NEBH to make progress toward its goals to build a vibrant clinical research enterprise aimed at advancing musculoskeletal treatment and improving outcomes; initiate comprehensive facility upgrades to prepare for the future; bolster the hospital’s endowment to support talented physicians; strengthen an institutional commitment to nursing excellence; and drive innovation in both medical education and patient care.
“NEBH has a long tradition of providing world-class musculoskeletal and orthopedic care. It is the generosity of donors, grateful patients, and friends that will continue to strengthen this institution long into the future,” said Trish Hannon, President and CEO of New England Baptist Hospital. “We are truly grateful to organizations like Citizens Bank that support our mission and understand the significant impact our work has on the lives of so many.”
