Dr. Eric P. Carkner is an orthopedic surgeon at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). In addition to his work at NEBH, he holds an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor at the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Carkner is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Massachusetts Medical Society as well as AO Spine North America. He has lectured on numerous spine topics and serves as the alternate chairperson of the Institutional Review Board for NEBH.
After receiving his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire, Dr. Carkner obtained his medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, before moving on to the adult reconstructive spine fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Carkner’s clinical interests include cervical and lumbar degenerative conditions including the application of minimally invasive surgical technique when appropriate.
