Maintaining a Clean Workspace

Medical Science

Whether you are going into a physical office to work or you’re working at your dining room table, maintaining a clean workspace is important.  This is especially important if others share your space or equipment. Below are some tips to help keep everyone safe in the workplace.

Clean and Disinfect

You will want to clean and disinfect surfaces you touch often. These include:

  • Desk Phones
    • Wipe down the entire phone, including ear and mouthpiece, keypad, wires, cables and the surface below the unit.
  • Mobile Phones
    • Check the manufacturer’s website for instructions on how to disinfect your mobile phone.
  • Computers
    • Wipe down your computer mouse, keyboard and the surfaces below them.

Wash Your Hands

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Make sure to always wash your hands:
    • After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
    • After being outside
    • After using the restroom
    • Before eating or preparing food

Practice Social Distancing

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend keeping at least six feet of space between you and others. Be sure keep this in mind in:
    • Elevators
    • Break rooms/Cafeterias
    • Other common spaces
