Vice President and Chief Development Officer
Debra Coleman has been Vice President and Chief Development Officer for New England Baptist Hospital since 2005. Deb is responsible for directing the Hospital's efforts related to fundraising, including developing and implementing the $30 million Transforming Lives The Baptist Way - The Campaign for Care. Prior to joining the Baptist as Major Gifts Officer in 2004, Ms. Coleman held a number of executive-level Development positions in the Boston area, including Director of Gift Planning for Brigham and Women's Hospital; Director of Gift Planning for Suffolk University; Director of Planned Giving for Simmons College; Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving and then Associate Director of Resource Development for Deaconess Hospital (now Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center). Earlier in her career, Deb served as Executive Director for Recording for the Blind (now Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic) in Boston. Ms. Coleman holds both a BA and an MA in English from Middlebury College. Recently, she served a six-year term on the Board of Directors for Women in Development, Boston; is a member of the Planned Giving Group of New England and the National Society of Fund Raising Executives.

John P. Hannigan
Senior Major Gifts Officer
John P. Hannigan joined New England Baptist Hospital's Development Office in 2007. Mr. Hannigan is a Senior Major Gifts Officer and, with his colleagues, is focused on achieving the $30 million goal of NEBH's Campaign for Care. He works with a range of constituencies including the medical staff, grateful patients, volunteers and members of the Hospital's Board of Visitors. Prior to his work with the Baptist, Mr. Hannigan worked as a Senior Development Officer at Boston Medical Center as it was gearing up for its first capital campaign. In that role, he worked on both corporate and foundation relations as well as cultivated major gifts. John came to the Baptist in 2007 after BMC's $56 million campaign was completed. A native Bostonian from the city's Dorchester section, Mr. Hannigan is an alumnus of Boston Latin School. He did his undergraduate work at Vassar College and received a master's degree in Public Policy from Duke University. John has worked in public education; local government and politics; and development. He taught history at the high school level in New York City for five years before returning to Boston where he became active in local politics. He served as Chief of Staff to Boston City Councilor Maureen Feeney for nearly five years. With experience in political fundraising and an interest in the non-profit sector, John enjoys working with volunteers and donors to achieve the hospital's philanthropic goals.
