New England Baptist Hospital’s focus on orthopedic surgery has produced an impressive track record of collaboration among Baptist medical staff and surgeons on hospital-based studies aimed at reducing complications.
Current and planned research includes:
- Assessment of the impact of NEBH’s high-risk surgery list – specifically, defined clinical paths for patients who are diabetic or heavy users of alcohol.
- Markers of activation of coagulation following hip or knee arthroplasty for patients receiving aspirin prophylaxis against thromboembolic disease.
- Prophylaxis against thromboembolic disease following orthopedic surgeries on extremities.
