Behavioral Medicine

New England Baptist Hospital behavioral medicine specialists - which include clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and counselors - provide treatment for a wide spectrum of psychological issues. These include depression, anxiety, psychological trauma, pain, affective disorders, psychological reaction to illness, trauma related to catastrophic injury, acute and post traumatic stress syndrome, sleep disturbances, and stress.

Working closely with the Departments of Cardiology, Medicine, Surgery, and Orthopedics, the behavioral medicine specialists provide consultation services to monitor the behavioral health of patients while they are in the Hospital, addressing the psychological aspects of patients' medical conditions. The services they provide include assessment, supportive cognitive and behavioral counseling, hypnosis, neuro-linguistic approaches, sports psychology, occupational medicine, pain management, sleep hygiene, stress management, and smoking cessation.

In addition, our behavioral medicine specialists triage outpatients and refer them to a highly supportive and qualified network of outpatient providers, ensuring that they receive the best care available to meet their needs.
