Paul McConnell
Arthritis
Paul McConnell realized New England Baptist Hospital was his kind of place when he sought care for his arthritis and was referred to Gerald Miley, MD, a rheumatologist. With his daughter's wedding a few months away, Mr. McConnell had a specific goal. "I told Dr. Miley I wanted to walk her down the aisle and dance with her - with no limping and no cane," he recalls. Dr. Miley's plan combined medication with dietary changes, and it worked.
Mr. McConnell, who owns a successful electrical contracting firm, has subsequently received care from New England Baptist Hospital specialists in cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary medicine and orthopedic surgery. "They function as a team and always give you the personal touch," he says. "Most importantly, they keep getting me back on my feet." That means Mr. McConnell can continue to run his company and fully enjoy activities with his family, including his 14 grandchildren.
"It takes a lot to win my confidence," says the South Boston native. New England Baptist Hospital has done just that - again and again. "Would I recommend the Baptist? Absolutely!"
