The Boston Celtics and New England Baptist Hospital today announced a multi-year renewal of their partnership as the Official and Exclusive hospital of the Boston Celtics. The announcement comes as the two organizations mark the 25th year of their partnership. New England Baptist Hospital has a long history of expertise in orthopedic care and sports medicine and continues to lead the way in the development of new methods to diagnose and treat all forms of musculoskeletal disorders and diseases. As part of the agreement, New England Baptist Hospital will continue to provide comprehensive medical services to the Boston Celtics, under the direction of Brian McKeon, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at NEBH and Celtics Chief Medical Officer and head team physician.
Under new terms of the partnership, the organizations will increase joint community relations and outreach efforts. The hospital will be the co-presenting sponsor of the annual Junior Celtics Leadership Achievement award as well as the official sponsor of the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation. The organizations will partner on initiatives focused on childhood obesity, physical fitness and health and wellness. New England Baptist and the Celtics will also team up to hold a variety of community based events throughout the year.
“The Boston Celtics are proud to celebrate our 25th year in partnership with New England Baptist Hospital and look forward to many more to come.” Boston Celtics Team President Rich Gotham said. “With this multi-year renewal, New England Baptist and their world class team of physicians will continue to provide outstanding medical care to the entire Celtics organization, as we try to raise another banner to the rafters.”
As part of the partnership, the organizations will host a designated New England Baptist night during a Celtics home game, which will include a presentation of the Junior Celtics Leadership Achievement Award. The hospital will also sponsor the “Injury Report” feature during all regular season Celtics home games and will receive the right to use the Celtics name, marks, and logos in all communications.
“We are proud to continue our longstanding and close relationship with the Celtics,” said Trish Hannon, president and CEO of New England Baptist Hospital. “The athletic prowess of the Celtics combined with the medical expertise of Baptist physicians is a winning combination. We’re pleased to expand our work together and look forward to a healthy and championship season.”
