Dr. Frederick C. Basilico has been a part of New England Baptist Hospital for most of his career, first joining the Baptist in 1980 as a member of the medical staff. He currently serves as both Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Chief of the Cardiology Department.
Dr. Basilico received his BS from Fairfield University and his Medical Degree from Cornell University Medical College. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease.
Dr. Basilico is a current member of several professional societies including the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and National Basketball Association Team Physicians' Society. He also holds an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Basilico has a consultative cardiology practice with a focus on noninvasive and diagnostic invasive testing and on management of cardiac disease. He has made sports cardiology his concentration and co-founded and serves as Co-Director of the W. Thomas Nessa Center for Sports Cardiology at the Baptist. He has served as a consultant for high school, college and professional athletes including the Boston Celtics.
One of his positions at New England Baptist Hospital is Chairman of the Patient Care Assessment Committee where he focuses his efforts on patient quality and safety.
He is also involved in international health care. Dr. Basilico works with the medical faculty at Tribhuvan University Medical Center, a major teaching hospital in Katmandu, Nepal. In this role he helps to arrange medical supplies and equipment for the hospital and its teaching programs. In addition, through the non-profit organization Healthcare Nepal he oversaw the education of physicians, surgeons and hospital administrators who came to Boston to advance their medical careers.
Dr. Robert Bode, Jr. has been Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia at New England Baptist Hospital since 1995.
He holds a BA degree from the College of Wooster and received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University. He completed his anesthesia residency as well as combined fellowships in critical care medicine and cardiac anesthesia at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He is past President of the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists and served as a senior Board Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Bode is an Associate Professor at the Boston University School of Medicine. He serves on numerous committees both nationally and at the Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Stephen Camer first joined New England Baptist Hospital as an attending surgeon in 1975. He has held several leadership roles in his career here, including Chief, of General Surgery. He currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Surgery, a position he has held since 1997.
Dr. Camer received a BS from Boston College and a medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Camer completed his residency at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York. He completed a Surgical Fellowship at the Lahey Clinic. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.
He serves as Chairman of the Executive Board of Governors at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He is also a member of several professional societies including the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Camer holds teaching appointments as a Clinical Professor in Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine and as a Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Jihad E. Hayek, Chairman Department of Pathology, joined New England Baptist in 1992 as a Staff Pathologist. In 1997 he became Director of the Department of Pathology.
Dr. Hayek received his medical degree from Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon. He is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
He holds memberships in several professional societies including the New England Society of Pathologists. He has collaborated on books including Gastrointestinal Mucosal Biopsy. Dr. Hayek is currently involved with studies on the prostate carcinoma.
Gary P. Kearney MD joined New England Baptist Hospital as a member of the medical staff in 1974, where he serves as Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery and President of the Medical Staff. Dr. Kearney is certified by the American Board of Urology and has been Chief of the Department of Urology at New England Baptist Hospital since 1993

Dr. Kearney received a BA from Northwestern University and earned his Medical Degree at the University of San Francisco. He served in the United States Navy. He holds the rank of Captain and served as a naval flight surgeon. During his tenure he was awarded two Navy Commendation Medal

He has several Hospital affiliations including serving as Associate in Urology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Senior Surgeon at Brigham & Women's Hospital. Dr. Kearney also holds a teaching appointment at Harvard Medical School where he is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Surgery/Urology. Dr. Joel S. Newman joined NEBH in 1997 as Staff Radiologist. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Radiology and Acting Director of the Division of Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He currently serves as Chairman of the Radiology Department, a position he has held since 2006.
Dr. Newman received a BA from Northwestern University and an MD degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology. Dr. Newman has subspecialty training and many years of experience in bone and joint imaging.
At the Baptist he has held several administrative and committee appointments including serving as Secretary of the Medical Staff. Dr. Newman also holds an academic appointment as Clinical Professor of Radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. John C. Richmond joined New England Baptist Hospital in 2004 as Chairman of the Orthopedic Department. Prior to joining the Baptist, Dr. Richmond served as both Vice Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics and Director of the Sports Medicine Clinic at New England Medical Center.
Dr. Richmond has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in Marine Biology and a medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified by the American Board Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Richmond is the first Vice President of the Eastern Orthopedic Association. He will be President from October 2010 - 2011.
Dr. Richmond is also active in research and education and holds an academic appointment as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine.
