Allergy and Immunology

At New England Baptist Hospital, our allergy and immunology specialists treat a broad spectrum of patients with allergic conditions, including allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, asthma, food allergies, urticaria (hives), angioedema (facial swelling), and drug, metal, and venom allergies. Proper diagnosis and treatment for allergy-related conditions can significantly improve the quality of life for allergy sufferers and reduce the risk of life-threatening reactions.

In addition to evaluating patients for common allergies, such as hay fever or food allergies, the allergists at the Baptist have special expertise in testing patients for potentially dangerous allergies such as those to drugs or metal. This type of testing is particularly critical for patients who are planning to undergo joint replacement or other surgery. In these cases, the allergy specialists can help to ensure that patients receive the appropriate medications and surgical implants during their surgeries.
