Chief Financial Officer
Thomas J. Gheringhelli is vice president and chief financial officer of New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) and its affiliates.
Prior to his start at NEBH in 2003, Gheringhelli was corporate director of financial planning for CareGroup, Inc., director of decision support for Pathways, Inc., and senior financial analysis for the Deaconess Hospital.
In his CFO role, Tom provides financial insight in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic initiatives. He is also a steward of the finance and compliance functions.
Tom’s finance functions include financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, patient access, patient accounts, capital planning, decision support, payer contracting, purchasing, materials management, medical records, reimbursement, cost report & tax filings, and investments (endowment & pension). He actively participates in debt financing as part of the CareGroup (CG) Obligated Group.
Tom currently staffs the NEBH’s Board, Finance, Audit, Compliance, Internal Audit, Compensation committees and routinely attends the Executive Committee meetings. He is also the treasurer for the employed physician group (New England Baptist Medical Associates) and the hospital-physician entity (New England Baptist Clinically Integrated Organization). Other commitments include the CareGroup Finance and Audit Committees, CG CFO Council, the Greater Boston Musculoskeletal Board (Dedham’s ASC) and most recently, the NEB-BIDMC Joint venture board.
Tom holds a Master’s degree in Finance (MSF) from Bentley College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from Northeastern University. He has also been certified as Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA-1997) and most recently became a member of the MHA Leadership College, class of 2015.
