Maureen Mulkerrin, MS, RN, CHCIO is Chief Information Officer, Vice President for Health Care Quality and Corporate Compliance for New England Baptist Hospital. In this position, Ms. Mulkerrin is responsible for all clinical, financial, and administrative information technology serving the NEBH community as well as the quality, regulatory and compliance functions of the organization.
Ms. Mulkerrin received her undergraduate education in nursing at New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and her BSN from Emmanuel College in Boston. She holds an MSM from Emmanuel College Boston and recently was awarded certification as a health care CIO, by the College of Health Care Information Management Executives.
Ms. Mulkerrin began her career with New England Baptist Hospital in 1987. She was appointed to her current position in 2013 and prior to that held the position of Vice President of Health Care Quality, Informatics and Research since 2010.
Before assuming her role as a Vice President, she held various staff and management positions in the Hospital's Patient Care Services and Health Care Quality departments.
In 1995, she left the acute care setting for CareGroup Occupational Health Network. Prior to becoming the Director of Clinical Operations for the Network, she helped facilitate the creation of a premiere occupational health network, which spanned seven locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
In 2000, Ms. Mulkerrin rejoined New England Baptist in the Department of Health Care Quality. She assumed the role of Director in 2003, was promoted to Senior Director in 2005, and Vice President in 2008.
In addition to lecturing before local and national professional organizations, she has published articles in a variety of professional journals including the Orthopedic Clinics of North America and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Ms. Mulkerrin has a number of professional affiliations including the American College of Healthcare Executives, College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, Health Information and Management Systems Society, Massachusetts Health Data Consortium, American Organization of Nurse Executives, Health Care Compliance Association and the Massachusetts Society for Health Care Risk Management.
